I know. Those young ladies are dressed to attend the traditional Moose Confusion Ceremony. This usually takes place in the woods of Canada at dusk. All the pre-teen girls of the area must decorate themselves in the most mis-matching and visually confusing garb that they can get their hands on. Then all the girls line up to surround any Moose that approaches their wooded area. As a moose approaches, the girls make high pitched noises which are impossible for any other type of human to make, and at the same time they move around in their confusing attire! This puzzles the moose into a state of tranquility. Once this happens, the girls then move in towards the moose in its state of stillness, and they proceed to decorate it. This appeases the Gods of Canada, and the girls are rewarded with mini van trips to the mall.

Uhmmm... to be completely serious, they are most likely participating in what seniors in high school across the country think is a fun way to show school spirit called, "Tacky Day."

I never knew how this reflected postively on the school or why one would actually want to do this besides having the excuse of dressing up, but this is an age-old practice first dating back to the 1980's.
